WORK FOR US
What we are looking for
Ask any student who has travelled abroad on one of our summer courses about their experience and one of the first things they will mention is their Group Leader, which is why, at Midleton School, we dedicate time and effort to carefully selecting the perfect candidates.
All of our group leaders share some common traits and skills. They are responsible, self-confident, practical, and enthusiastic individuals who are able to command, and at the same time develop a rapport with their group of teenage students. Each of them is a native Spanish speaker and holds a minimum certified C1-level of English (Cambridge Advanced, IELTS +/= 7.0 or equivalent). They also have a proven track record working with teenagers as well as having experience in an international setting.
Preference will be given to those who have a background in teaching and/or previous experience working as a group leader. Flexibility with regards to dates and adaptability relating to programme requirements are essential.
Candidates who successfully pass the interview phase are required to submit a clear and up-to-date criminal background check.
The role of a group leader
You will act as the main point of contact between your students and onsite staff members, while also representing Midleton School in your host destination.
As the name suggests, you will be charged with leading a group of students on one of our summer programmes in Ireland, the UK, the USA, or Canada. Your main duties, which include monitoring students’ welfare and behaviour, begin the moment you arrive at the departure airport and end when you land back in Spain. As group leader, you will be responsible for your group of students at all times, and will accompany them on the various trips and activities which form part of the social programme.
What we offer
Midleton School offers its Group Leaders a highly-competitive package, lending to the candidates personal and professional development.
You will have the opportunity to travel abroad, explore new places, immerse yourself in a new culture, socialise, network, gain valuable professional experience, and what’s more you get paid for the pleasure.
Before jetting off, all of our Group Leaders attend a compulsory Curso de Formación de Monitores and also complete a First Aid course with the Spanish Red Cross.
Travel to and from your host-destination is provided as is full board and accommodation* for the duration of your stay.
While abroad, you will be covered by private health insurance and will have 24-hour support from our Local Coordinator in each destination as well as from our head office in Getafe.
*Private room in a Hall of Residence or with a host family, depending on the programme on which you work.

About us
Midleton School opened its doors to its first students in 2003. Founded by Óscar Porras, the school has continued to grow year on year, going from thirty-something students in its first year of business to more than 800 registered students during the last academic course.
Alongside our English academy, the largest in the south of Madrid, Midleton School has established itself as one of the market leaders in offering summer courses abroad for students who are looking to enrich their language-learning experience in a more authentic and cultural setting.
As well as our very own summer schools in Spain, the USA, and the UK, we also send groups to destinations as far away as Vancouver, and as close to home as Dublin. With summer programmes in 16 cities, across 6 countries, on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean, we are able to offer our students the destination which we feel will best complement their needs, interests and experiences.
